Dr. Marilyn Gregus
Dr. Marilyn Gregus is a native Hamiltonian, currently residing in Ancaster. She has practiced dentistry for over 20 years in the local area. She had the honour of working in and eventually taking over her father’s dental practice, Dr. Walter Gregus, after she graduated from dental school. Dr. Gregus is known for her caring and humorous personality and exceptional dental work. She has perfected quality care and a relaxing experience. Dr. Gregus has been involved with many charitable organizations and causes in the local community.
Dr. Linda Dang
After completion of her Honours Bachelor of Sciences at McMaster University, Dr. Linda Dang continued her education at the University Of Toronto Faculty Of Dentistry. Upon graduating she was inducted in Omnicron Kappa Epsilon (OKU), the national dental honour society that recognizes dental students who have distinguished themselves by excellence in scholarship while also demonstrating exemplary traits of character and potential qualities for future professional growth and attainments.
Born in Toronto and raised in Woodbridge, Dr. Dang comes to 860 Dental with a strong commitment and involvement in the dental world. She is an active member of the Hamilton Academy of Dentistry and the Burlington Dental Academy. She is a past executive member of the Burlington Dental Academy participating in organized dentistry. Dr. Dang brings to the practice sound knowledge in the dental field, and has additional training in cosmetic dentistry, restorative implant therapy, management of sleep obstructive disorders, and complicated & wisdom teeth extractions. She actively continues to take continuing education courses and is an Invisalign provider.
In her spare time, she enjoys being physically active. You can find her practicing yoga, playing volleyball, spinning, roller blading, swimming, and kayaking. In the past she has been an enthusiastic dragon boat racer and co-captain for Plak Attack, UofT’s own dentistry team.
Dr. Joyce Kim
Prior to obtaining her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Western University in 2014, Dr. Joyce Kim received her Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University where she majored in biology. She lived and worked in Edmonton, Alberta, for two years before coming back home to Ontario. She has taken several continuing education courses in endodontics, oral surgery, and oral pathology. Dr. Kim enjoys all areas of dentistry, and finds preventative dentistry and promoting education in oral health the most rewarding.
Born in Toronto, Dr. Kim grew up in the Halton Hills area, but now calls Georgetown home. When not in the office, she enjoys staying active by practicing yoga and meditation, dancing, and hiking the great outdoors; however, when not outside, Dr. Kim can be found enjoying a film or spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Michael Tiedemann
Dr. Michael Tiedemann attended Western University where he obtained three degrees. On top of his undergraduate degree in chemistry, he also holds his PhD in Chemistry where he has published 9 articles. Dr. Tiedemann finished his dental degree at Western University with honours. He was his fourth year class president and activity participated in extra-curricular activities including dental research and numerous dental social committees. He is also currently taking his oral sedation certification course at his alma mater. Dr. Tiedemann believes in compassionate dentistry with a strong foundation in an evidence-based approach. He strives to have a positive interaction with his patients leaving a great impression as well as impeccable attention to the detail of his work.
When not in the office, Dr. Tiedemann enjoys hitting the road on his mountain or road bike, scuba diving, playing board games, beer brewing, and paintball. A Native of Sudbury, he now calls Hamilton home.
Dr. Darren Van Winckle
Dr. Darren Van Winckle obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honours from the University of Toronto, and was awarded for his clinical excellence in Crown and Bridge. He believes that staying current in modern advancements in dentistry is key to providing excellent patient care, and regularly enrolls in continuing education courses with a special interest in periodontics (“gum therapy”), and dental implant therapies. Dr. Van Winckle likes getting to know each of his patients and understanding their individual needs to provide a positive dental experience.
In his spare time he enjoys spending quality time with his daughter, playing basketball, rock climbing, skiing, and golfing.
Registered Dental Hygienists
Larissa has over 20 years of dental experience; many of those years working with Dr. Marilyn Gregus in two downtown Hamilton dental practices. She has expertise in all aspects of patient care and office operations. As a dental hygienist she is gentle, thorough, knowledgeable and excellent at easing anxiety. Larissa was been the Program Director of a local Dental Hygiene College for 12 years, overseeing the operations, curriculum and daily activities of staff, faculty, and students. She is also very active in the profession, sitting on various boards and participating in many hours of volunteering and professional development. She obtained an HBSc from McMaster University, a BA from the University of Waterloo, and a MS at Capella University.
When she is not in the office, Larissa enjoys spending time with her three horses, Moose, Bow and Tuxedo. Horses have been her top hobby for over 30 years. She is the proud mother of three – Sophia, Nixon, and Colton.
With over 30 years’ experience in the dental field, Laurie brings to 860 Dental a warm, friendly, patient, and positive demeanor. She truly makes all her patients feel comfortable and at ease while on the chair.
When Laurie is not in the office, she enjoys showing her horses in Ontario and the United States. An avid rider, she has been riding since the tender age of 4 years old. Born and raised in Caledon, she now lives on a farm with her husband, two daughters, and their many animals ranging from cattle, horses, dogs, and cats.
Leslie’s dental career has spanned for over 3 decades. Working as a Registered Dental Hygienist for all that time, she has also worked as a dental hygiene instructor for 13 years, educating young minds in clinical practice as well as private and community colleges. Leslie’s patient, friendly, and approachable personality combined with her calming and honest bedside manner, makes for a comfortable, thorough, and informative appointment.
When not in the office, Leslie enjoys staying fit by running with whatever family member – husband, kids, or dog – will join her.
Before beginning her career as a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2006, Maricel started out as a CDA Level II two years prior. Educating her patients is very important to her, and with over 13 years’ experience and having the background of both professions, Maricel is able to better understand and educate her clients on their oral health and their overall hygiene visit. Her goal is to make her client’s experience one that is informative, but most importantly, comfortable, and with her great and calming bedside manner, she does just that.
When not in the office, Maricel loves spending time with her family and friends, reading, attending concerts or sporting events, staying active by playing basketball and volleyball, and being creative; whether in the kitchen creating culinary and baking masterpieces or in her DIY projects around the house that can rival any of Martha Stewart’s creations.
Shella is a Registered Dental Hygienist who has worked in the practice for well over a decade. She provides comprehensive, client-specific, preventative services to all patients with the use of current technology and evidence-based practice. Her friendly nature immediately sets patients at ease during their appointments with her.
When she is not in the office, Shella loves spending plenty of quality time with her friends and family; especially her husband, their son, Kane, and their dog, Sage. They are all currently excitedly anticipating the arrival of their newest addition to the family, expected to make their debut in January 2018. Shella is an avid camper and loves renovating her new home in the country with a variety of DIY projects. A self-proclaimed foodie, she enjoys cooking, baking, and trying out all sorts of different cuisines. Her favourite type of food is sushi.
Hayfa`s dental career started in 2013 while she was a teenager searching for the right path in high school. Her first step into our office she knew where she wanted her future to lie. After completing her coop with us, we realized Hayfa was such a great addition to our team we kept her on throughout the rest of her high school education. She then went on to dental assisting and graduated as a Certified Dental Assistant Level II from National Academy of Health and Business. With her humorous personality, caring nature, friendly spirit, and great chair side manners, she will make sure you feel just as if you`re at home!
Born in Quebec City, Hayfa calls Hamilton home and when not in the office, she loves being outdoors, immersing herself in the ever growing Hamilton food scene, spending quality time with her family, and working at Toys R Us.
“I love what I do!” Katrina’s passion for dentistry is seen in her professional background that includes nearly fifteen years in the dental profession. She has experience as an office manager, dental receptionist, and dental assistant. At 860 Dental, she enjoys assisting Dr. Gregus and is one of our front line receptionists. Katrina’s bright and cheerful demeanor as well as her fun and caring side are seen all day and every day from the staff and patients alike. She really goes above and beyond!
Outside of 860 Dental, Katrina loves reading, cooking, enjoying the outdoors, event planning, and travelling whenever and wherever she can; and just like any woman, she loves shopping! A truly family oriented person to the core, her favourite way to spend her time is with her family; especially with her husband John and their daughter Sotiria.
Dawn has over 13 years of dental administration experience; 8 of those years have been in office management, and 7 of them have been working with Dr. Marilyn Gregus. Her number one focus is patient service and care; because of this Dawn makes sure to take the time to listen to each and every patient, getting to know them, their needs, and easing their anxieties. Dawn’s fun, quirky, kind, and hardworking attitude makes for a great addition to the 860 Dental team.
When she is not at the office, Dawn loves spending quality time with her husband and their Labrador, Lucy. Her hobbies include weightlifting, painting, and reading.
Dawna brings to 860 Dental over 15 years of healthcare experience. Her willingness to help out and lend a hand to whomever she can and whenever she can, at work and at home, is evident; all you have to do is ask anyone at the practice, or one of her two children and her husband of over 30 years.
When Dawna is not at 860 Dental she enjoys her gardens, cooking, baking, time at the cottage, but most of all spending time with her family and being the best grandmother to her grandchild Callie.
Sarah was born and raised in a Portuguese household in London, Ontario. Having three years’ experience in dental administration, she brings to the office a great work ethic, on point organizational skills, a warm smile, calming voice, and friendly personality.Only here for a few months, Sarah has already enjoyed getting to know 860 Dental patients and is looking forward to meeting the rest of you!
In her free time, she loves hanging out with her family, hiking, sewing, and creating DIY projects with her beau RJ. She and RJ are both extremely excited to meet their first little bundle of joy in April 2018.
